In this article we want to introduce you to the innovations in Odoo 11 online shop. We use the Odoo Enterprise version. All new features in Odoo 11 can be found here.
CHECKOUT & PAYMENT
Optimized checkout process in Odoo 11, for better usability in all devices, through the embedded payment form. As you can see here, the design is more closed and therefore very easy to use even in the standard version - a simple "border" frame makes it possible. In the old Odoo versions the payment methods were inserted almost unformatted (second picture), without paying attention to a reasonable design. The whole thing is optimized in Odoo 11 for desktop, tablet and mobile.
The online shop has got its own dashboard in Odoo 11. You can reach it by clicking on the "Website" app in the Odoo backend. The dashboard will show, at the top, the three linked main sections, "Go to Website, Unpaid Orders, and Abadoned Carts to Recover". The dashboard overview below shows a chronological sales statistics in the first field. The second field shows the number of orders, in relation to the time to order; Next to it you will see the total of the orders and the corresponding mean. Third is the number of successful shopping carts + conversion rate. Below you can see the bestsellers. At the bottom of the dashboard, you can see the Google Analytics data (if the dashboard is connected to Analytics). Timing is the dashboard in last week, last month, and last year.
A very nice new feature is Compare Products. For customers, it is now possible to add a product to the comparison list from the product and category page by simply clicking on the "Compare" icon. Once that's done, a center-centered box will appear below the online store containing the products to be compared. By clicking on the field, a small overview opens, which is opened by a further click on the button. (not available in mobile)
The old rules of product availability (Odoo 10) included the following cases: Display nothing, In stock, Warning (with text input). In Odoo 11, four rules are now available:
+ Sell regardless of inventory.
+ Show inventory on the website and prevent sales if not enough stock.
+ Show inventory below a threshold and prevent sales if not enough stock.
+ Show product-specific notifications.
Abandoned shopping carts
Automate marketing actions on abandoned shopping carts to convert them into orders. The different templates (e-mail content) and times for sending e-mails can be found here: Settings > General Settings > Website > Order > Email for Abandoned carts.
Buyers can now add products to a wishlist with Odoo 11 now. Returning customers can find and buy their desired products faster. You already know the whole thing from Amazon and other shops. Adding is easy by clicking on the icon with the heart. The whole works on the category and on the product page. If you have added a first product, access to the wish list appears in the header next to the shopping cart. The procedure of adding was additionally deposited with a nice little animation.
COUPONS & Promotions
One of the most outstanding innovation in Odoo 11 is to be able to offer coupons, promotions and discounts in the online shop. You can set everything under: Sales > Catalog > Promotion Program and the menu item "Coupon Programs". Among other things, the following settings are possible:
+ Automatic discounts
+ Specific or generic discount codes
+ Free additional products or free shipping
+ Discounts with fixed price or percents
+ Discounts on customer & product level
