Odoo has many advantages over conventional enterprise resource planning softwares. Odoo is open source, free of license fees (Odoo Community), freely scalable, customizable, browser based and modern.

Open source means that the source code of the software can be viewed, changed and used publicly and by third parties. Here's where we come to the next benefit: Odoo is customizable in the Community and Enterprise versions. This means: workflows, fields, forms, just everything can be changed or integrated into the ERP. This is especially important for companies that operate far from standard processes in order to be able to map their business processes at all.

Odoo is royalty free in the Community version. This means no monthly or annual fees for users or standard apps. Odoo is freely scalable: you can start with your business, with just one app and one user, and expand the ERP successively, just as the growth of the business dictates - no problem with Odoo. Furthermore, Odoo is browser-based and in all areas modern and state-of-the-art. This applies above all to the software architecture, which is based on the programming language Python - but also the interface, which looks just great in the versions Odoo-Online and Enterprise and is excellent to use.

STEPS OF Integration


Before the start of a project, a consultation should clarify whether Odoo can represent the requirements of the company. It can be done externally - to have an independent opinion - or directly with us. The topics of the consultation partially overlap with the subsequent in-depth analysis of the company processes, the conception and planning.


The recording of the requirements and the analysis of the company processes is a basic requirement for the conception and planning of the Odoo integration. It contains the detailed analysis and documentation of the company processes. This helps us to understand the processes and workflows of the company and to convert them into further requirements - the specifications also make a significant contribution to this.


In the conception & planning phase, the requirements are linked with Odoo. The project manager and Odoo developers define the apps and modules that contain the requirements and key figures, create process boards, backboards, task boards, create storyboards & release plans, and much more. The finished implementation plan contains the rough planning (backboard) and the fine planning up to ticket level. The whole thing happens in close cooperation with the contracting company to work agile at any time.


Only after conception and planning the integration begins in Odoo. To do this, a development environment is created first, which also represents the test environment. Then master data is inserted to work with real information. In the next step, the apps and modules that are to represent the standard processes are integrated. Special business processes are adapted by customizing, as the conception foresees.


All apps, modules, and workflows are tested many times during and after programming, including in conjunction with other apps and modules. We distinguish UAT's (User Acceptance Tests) and Code Reviews (Quality Control of the Code). UAT's are carried out internally by us and by the client. This should help to find errors on time and to integrate improvements iteratively - the applied agile software development is thereby a great advantage for our customers.


The training of all employees contributes significantly to the success of an ERP implementation. It will be carried out before the launch so that the acceptance of the ERP grows and the software can be operated very well. The whole thing happens directly at the client, in the usual environment and later by remote training.


The launch is the moment of truth. He has to be well planned and tested beforehand. It is carried out when only a few movement data are to be expected in order to avoid failures. After the launch, the entire system is re-tested to detect and correct errors in a timely manner.
